For a 1 1/2 day world wind tour of the small community and it’s residents, facilities, and town leaders. There’s alot to be commended for here, and so far we’ve noticed small potential for positive change. But then again that is the point of doing a diagnostic first and foremost during the 1st 3 months of service.. after that we volunteers eventually help get solid projects in place.

Interesting ‘drill’ we stubbled across yesterday. The town performs an earthquake simulation every 3 or 6 months where 20-30 kids are selected from the primarily school to be the injured victims of a natural disaster. The town ambulance and police truck race to the school, treat the kids, throw them in the back of the truck and take them to the health post for simulated triage. Best part is the nurses in training that are there to help.
