Peruvian Independance Day..

with 3 comments

Don’t know if I neglected to report on the Peruvian 4th of July earlier this summer, but nonetheless, it was a nice time and it wasn’t on the 4th. Peruvian Independence is on July 28th each year and the town takes the day off. There are not Bar-B-Q’s but rather parades in most towns where authorities and parents come out to see their school kids march quickly in front of the Municipality. Here’s an example..

I’m not as in touch with the US military and school system as I should, and don’t know if soldiers in the states march the same way. In Chachapoyas there are similar displays of patriotism; there it’s every Sunday..
